Homeless Veterans Referral Program

Helping veterans at risk or experiencing homelessness find a safe and secure place to call home is one of our top priorities. We are proud to present Op FORTITUDE – a dedicated homeless veterans referral program aimed at providing assistance and shelter to our Armed Forces community in need.

Created by Riverside Care and Support, and funded by The Armed Forces Covenant Fund, Op FORTITUDE is designed to deliver a centralised referral pathway into veteran supported housing. The program works to prevent homelessness by either assisting veterans in finding suitable accommodation or supporting them in maintaining their current home.

How Op FORTITUDE Works:

1. Referrals can be made by veterans themselves, the public, homelessness sector, Local Authorities, the veteran charity sector, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service, The Defence Transition Service, or other agencies working with veterans.
2. Assessing the immediate safety and needs of the veteran, the Op FORTITUDE team matches them with suitable supported housing or connects them to tenancy sustainment efforts based on their specific needs and preferences.
3. Veterans who need additional support are referred to other Veteran Charity Sector Organizations tailored to address their unique circumstances.

Op FORTITUDE will officially launch for referrals on the 3rd of July 2023, with full operation starting on the 1st of September 2023.

No one who has bravely served should be left to face homelessness. With Op FORTITUDE, veterans can expect guidance, support, and the opportunity to find safe housing that benefits their overall well-being.

Together, we can make a difference and help give back to those who have bravely served our nation.

We’re aiming to raise £20,000 to finance the refurbishment of 3 boats which will become new homes for homeless veterans.
